In a year dominated by Covid-19, the team at Bartec Paper and Packaging and packaging are delighted to have achieved the highest grade of AA in the British Retail Consortium Global Standard (BRCGS), following an audit on Friday 2nd October. Bartec has consistently achieved the highest rating since the company was first audited in 2003.

The BRCGS for Packaging and Packaging Materials was designed to assist in the production of safe food packaging materials and the management of product quality.  To achieve the Standard, any packaging company which supplies products for direct food contact must undergo an annual audit of its premises and processes.

The comprehensive audit examines all aspects of the business from the commitment of senior management to the on-going training and development of all staff, and the maintaining of the strictest hygiene standards throughout all areas of the business. The process is designed to encourage a whole culture of product safety, which in turn leads to customer confidence.

The audit at Bartec involved a detailed examination of the whole factory and how it operates. All its processes, policies and systems were scrutinised closely by the auditors.

Bartec Director, Vanessa Cooper, says: “This has been an exceptional team effort during a challenging year where we’ve had to adapt the way we operate to meet strict safety guidelines. This has made it all the more rewarding to have once again achieved the much-coveted AA rating.

“We continue to invest in our business to ensure that we maintain the highest standards, as is required in the production of packaging for direct food contact.  Achieving this AA rating demonstrates our commitment to delivering the highest quality product and service to all our customers.”
